The Planetarium comes to School!
Children of all ages from Playgroup to CM2 had an 'out of this world' experience on Thursday, November 17th.
[23/11/2011]

A
planetarium came to school to introduce and inform the different groups to the
stars, planets and galaxies. This was a link to current science and maths work
on time and light.
The
planetarium is infact an amazing inflatable structure inside which the children
listen to and observe the night sky. The sky is brought to life with a series
of animations and projections with Laurent the astrologist commentating and
highlighting points of special interest. Laurent has lived and worked in the US and so is
also able to translate in English. As the specialist in education at the
planetarium, he is also well practised in tailoring presentations for different
age groups.
EPIM
children were able to approach the surface of Mars, able to identify the stars
in our night sky as well as living out many other amazing encounters.
The
children asked Laurent questions as they toured the solar system and told them
that in their lifetime would be astronauts landing on Mars.
Laurent
certainly gave us a rich and rewarding learning experience.
During the
Christmas holiday he has advised the children to come with their families to
visit the planetarium at St. Mitre in Aix to see presentations on the planet
Jupiter.
We are sure
that many of us will do so after such an inspiring morning.
