In fact, since they very first opened, EPIM schools have welcomed
children from the age of 2, from their second birthday, regardless if they are
toilet trained or still in nappies.
In a setting where the child's emotional well being is key, where the
focus is on a warm homely welcome from the teachers and assistants, EPIM works
with children from 2 in
a learning environment which is already preparing for the start of their
international education.
The fundamental aims and values of EPIM are there:
-
a week shared between the 2 languages, French
and English, where every child has two teachers, one French one English.
-
an individualised, personal approach thanks to
small class numbers of a maximum of 16 per class.
-
a full programme where as well as the usual
areas of learning, drama, art, sport, and personal and emotional literacy are
taught.
- a very practical hands on early education for 2
year olds where everything they learn is linked to their direct experience, so
that from an early age they know why they come to school, why they are learning
and its application.
all this whilst the child
believes they have come to play and explore, unaware of the educational
objectives behind each activity, where the day is tailored to their pace and
young age.
So, although it is far from
being a child minding service for the 2 year olds, similarly EPIM is not a "hot house" for children! Its
primary concern is that the child blossoms whilst learning the key objectives,
that the child wants to learn, is encouraged to be independent and to explore,
and learns how to learn.
We aim for the child of 2
who will become a teenager and then adult to have been given the tools and opportunities by EPIM to
adapt and thrive in our constantly changing world.
