Next Monday the Dutch children are going to tell the school the story of St. Nicolaas. They will be dressed up as Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet and will prepare some pepernoten or small cookies the Pieten always give to the children. During the assembly we will also sing songs and hope to find our shoes filled with mandarins and chocolates. [read]
Story sacks were developed by a Head teacher in England as an idea to help adults share books with children in a positive, theatrical, interactive and fun way. The story sacks will be stored in the library area and will certainly help stories come alive; this is especially helpful an international school where the story may not be in a child's first language. [14/10/2010] The Leisure Club offers a wide range of activities in English at EPIM in Aix and Marseille
Every year, the Wednesday afternoon is a special time set aside for hobbies and creative projects at our schools. Whether or not the children are enrolled at EPIM, children can participate in our activities with a full immersion in English taught by a professional native English speaking artist. These programs are designed for children ages 4-11, with or without prior experience in English. [read]This year, the first day back to school at EPIM for all of our kindergarten and primary students was September 6th. It also served as an opportunity for the parents to meet the new reinforced pedagogical team and to discover the latest additions at our school. Building on its success in Aix and Marseille, EPIM is looking to expand its teams for the next academic year 2010-2011: an Early Years specialist with English as their first language, a qualified Nursery teacher with English as their first language, a music teacher, and a drama teacher. EPIM primary children from Aix and Marseille were very proud to welcome the international choir May 6th. A great opportunity for our children to share with other international children on true human values which ended with a shared lunch on that day. A concert has been presented the following week end. A moment of rare intensity when children and grown-ups alike projected their imagination into a living-room revisited by stage director Alexis Moati. An hour and a half-long theater piece that profoundly engaged the children's identification, seeing themselves transformed into pirates, redskins...At the end of the presentation, students were invited to talk with the artists and discovered how difficult it is for a professional actor to play the role of a child. They also discovered how simple sofas as stage sets can effectively replace Walt Disney's most sophisticated film decors.m [read]
